Neighbors all around your area have the opportunity to get excited by your craft fair if you start passing out postcards a couple of weeks in advance of your Neighborhood Craft Fair. We call them “postcards” but they’re really a designed ad about the fair printed on 4×6 photo paper at your local drugstore.
The number of postcards you print will depend on the scope of how many houses you can reach. And THAT will depend on how big your team is that plans to help pass them out.
We started with 400 at our last fair, and ended up passing out around 700 cards all over adjacent streets and blocks. Some friends volunteered to pass them out at their salon and to outside friends and family.
Gather a group of people to help you hole punch and thread rubberbands through like the image below and you have an easy way to hang postcards on door handles or knobs! Make sure they are the skinny rubber bands; the fat ones are more of a challenge.
Use our template below to get started designing your own postcard. You will need to replace the images in the template with close-up detail shots of items that will be sold at your craft fair. This is why you want to get images from your vendors up to a month in advance! You can design this one and the social media graphic at the same time using the same images.
When you get the photos, you can use Canva to brighten and crop in on the images if needed (to crop, double-click the image, then you can stretch the photo inside the bounding box until you have a nice view of it).
